Suzanne--

I'm grateful for your comments. I like clean sheets, too--although they're special because they're not every day.

Sondra,

I have a gratitude journal and I love looking back through the past entries to simply remind myself of all the many, many things I am thankful for.

Most of the things are very simple, but it's these little things that make for a happy life. Like sleeping on clean sheets for the first time (I love clean sheet night), hot tea on a cold and dreary winter's day, warm fuzzy socks, walks in the park, reading in bed.

Gee. I'm happier already! Thanks.

So true! If our mind, body and spirit are in sync, creativity blooms within us, and flowers around us. I appreciate your thoughts.

What a great article! I read somewhere that inspiration can awaken you at 2 in the morning, so I don't fight it, I embrace it. Thank you for your insight and inspiration.

Sondra, this is excellent advice on how to use insomnia for our advantage. I find that when I write down my to-do list as they pop into my head (I keep a pad by my bed) I can allow my mind to let go of things I need to do later and just focus on how good it feels to relax. Thanks for sharing your info with us.

Whilst I do not have a problem with insomnia, I love those hours close to dawn, when the light is filtering through. To be just awake, and snuggled under the blankets while the mind drifts into all sorts of plotting ideas. They truly are the most creative hours of the day.

You have the most creative website! I love it, cause I think most writers have insomnia and don't really consider it as a time to possibly be creative. You've hit on an untapped market!

Great tips!

Oh, yes! Many a night have I lay awake thinking, thinking, thinking. The most annoying is when it's the same line of thought over and over - and not even any useful line of thought!

I have though, come up with a few poems, the beginnings and ends of stories, ideas to jot down, and the odd thought that required recording. Usually, at the end of one of these insomniac sessions I can fall asleep. Mad scribbling when everyone else is asleep can act as a sleeping agent. Once the burst of creativity is appeased, I relax and close my eyes...

I know what you mean. The train here at my house has left the station and here I still sit at almost midnight typing away--not sleepy, not wanting to stop writing to go to bed.
