Here’s a new idea: Virtual dreaming can help you rest.

I learned about it from Marilyn vos Savant, whose been called one of the world’s smartest women (in Guinness Book of Records for her childhood and adult IQ scores). While I prefer the theory of multiple intelligences, clearly she knows how to think….
She recently discussed how “virtual dreaming” helps when she can’t sleep:
Start thinking about whatever you’d most like to dream about. In other words, start dreaming! Envision yourself climbing Mount Everest, dating Chris Martin or Taylor Swift, or taking charge of the Oval Office. But make it an ongoing pleasurable activity so you can imagine it at length. (Which means you may want to forget about the Oval Office.)
I call it ‘virtual dreaming.’ Sometimes I envision myself figure-skating the way I loved to do when I was a teenager, complete with spins and jumps. But in my dreams, I always get to stay aloft just a little longer than gravity would allow!
I loved this idea – it fits right into Restful Insomnia, shifting your mind from conscious wakefulness to unconscious renewal.
Try it yourself, and let me know (on the Restful Insomnia Facebook page) how it works for you.
