Here’s the
recording of the Doctors for America presentation on physician wellness & sleep with Arianna Huffington. The hour was jam-packed with good ideas, for both people who dismiss the value of sleep and those of us who crave it.
The sleep doctors agreed that rest is very important [~ 39 mins] and you’ll find many recommendations that align with those of Restful Insomnia. The info on medications [~ 44 mins] was quite valuable.
Arianna Huffington had some great comments as well, like:
- Americans wear their busy-ness like a badge of honor, with a collective delusion that sleep is not important.
- We do more tearing down than reconstruction, and our yin yang cycle is disturbed without deep down-time.
- If you listen to recordings at night, use an I-pod, and leave the distraction of your phone or computer in another room.
- And she reminded me of what’s part of my evening ritual that others might not do: changing into dedicated sleep clothes (aka PJs) to make the transition into rest.
Do you change into PJs or other “sleep clothes” when you head for bed?
